"This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." Al-Maidah: 3

Imperfection is the  nature of mankind and towards perfection remains his quest. No matter how magnificent and beautiful the hand work of man may be, blemishes will ever be sighted and noticed. This is because the Creator Who originated this man from nothing wanted it so. He distinguished Himself from his creature to make innate in it that quest and yearning to the Master of all. Perfection is for Him Alone, while same thing remains a fact that will forever elude mankind, yet forever will he search for it.

However, it would be startling to mankind witnessing perfection declared unequivocally. That is Islam pronouncing clearly that it is a perfected and complete religion. Allah says: "This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." Al-Maidah: 3

This keeps man wondering and craving to know how perfect and unblemished this proclaimed perfect religion really is. Thus, from this point shall our simple and brief series on "Islam the Perfect Religion" begin.

Unique Message

Islam was, is and will remain the most unique message of all times. It has been the way and religion of all the rightly guided prophets in history. From Adam, the father of mankind, through Ibrahim and all others to Muhammad (peace be upon him). They core message remains "There is none worthy of worship except Allah". This has been the call of all prophets through the human epochs of history. Their laws and way the message was implemented or delivered may differ to befit their time and people sent to, yet the message remains and retains its cardinal call to the ONENESS of God, devoid of partners and resemblance. He has been and will forever remain the One and only God. The God of our ancestors, our God and the God of the generations yet unborn.

The Qur'an equivocally states this in so many places. Allah says: "And verily, We have sent among every nation a messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone) and avoid (or keep away from) all false deities. Al-Nahl:36.

"They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desire without being ordered by Allah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they are commanded [in the Taurah (Torah) and Injeel (Gospel) to worship none but One God (Allah), none has the right to be worshiped but He. Glorified is He from having the partners they associate (with him.)" at-Taubah:31.

"None has the right to be worshiped but He (Allah). It is He Who gives life and causes death – your Lord and the Lord of your Forefathers" ad-Dukhan: 8.

Many much more instances of such verses are abound in the Glorious Qur'an. Nonetheless, the Qur'an never stands alone in affirming this stance. It remains the way of all prophets and religions before Muhammad (peace be upon him). Here are also some explicit crystal clear examples from the Gospel, where the ONENESS of God is stated.

Old Testament:

"I am the first and I am the last; besides Me there is no god. Who is like Me?" (Isaiah 44:6)

"And there is no other god besides Me, a righteous God and a Saviour; there is none besides Me. Turn to Me and be saved… To me every knee shall bow. (Isaiah 45:21-23).

"O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord". (Deuteronomy 6:4)

"Has not the One God made and sustained for us the spirit of life?" (Malachi 2:15)

"You may kno and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after Me. I, I am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior." (Isaiah 43:10-11)

New Testament:

"hear o Israel: the Lord our God is One Lord." (Mark 12:29)

"Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only." (Mathew 4:10)

"Now this is life eternal, that they know you, the only God, and Jesus, whom you have sent. (John 17:3).

In this light, it is brought to us that Islam has been in existence, going through a gradual divine upgrading and fine tuning. As at the time Muhammad (peace be upon him) was to be raised, all prerequisites have been put in place by Allah Himself. The history of his life, from his prosecutions in makkah to his establishing a model Islamic society in Madinah, stands a dazzling proof to this phenomenon.
