No Mediators Needed

How delightful will it be to have a direct link to the presidents of our nations! A situation whereby you just pick up a phone and dial your president's personal number, asking him whatever you need or putting before him your problems. In response, he does not only promises to attend duly to the problems, but firmly does he make sure it is executed as sought. The joy and trust such citizenry, if a country of such is realized, will know no boundaries.

This is exactly the case with Islam. Allah, the Almighty, not withstanding His status being the Creator of the dominion, has given to Muslims that privilege of just picking up their individual phones, from any part of the world, at any time of the day, and putting a call across to Him, the Most Gracious. No security checks required. No secretaries to receive the call on His behalf or hand the phone over to the Boss. All you need do is just pick your call and have a mind to mind talk with Him, your Creator.

Allah says: "You (Alone) we worship and You (Alone) we ask for help" [Fatihat: 5]

He said elsewhere: "And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by my knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright." [al-Baqarah:186]

The prophet then said: "Verily, supplication is worship". [Tirmidhi and he said its sound].

He said: "Nothing is more honorable (most liked) before Allah than supplication" [Tirmidhi, and said to be sound by ibn Hibban]

He then made a promise and assured us of the answer, saying: "And your Lord said: Invoke Me, I will respond to your (invocation)." [Ghafir:60].

Implicitly, any invocation made is answered. All one need to do is play his or her own part by making the invocation. And Allah on His part will, surely, never forsake the caller. This does not mean all our invocations made, and the answers not seen, has not been answered. Allah is Just and will never bridge His promise. The messenger of Allah r said: "No Muslim on the surface of the earth who makes a call onto Allah without it being granted (i.e. directly and just as asked) or it is (instead) used to avert for him a calamity of same magnitude (as the invocation). [Tirmidhi].

Thus a supplication made is undoubtedly answered in different ways, according to the one seen by Allah as being the best option for the supplicant. It could be given directly and as asked, or used as a means of averting evil for the supplicant, or could just be reserved as reward for him on the last day.

Nonetheless, it's our pride that our Lord does not make us have to pass through a mediator to contact Him. Our secrets and fallibilities committed in the hidden are kept between us and Him Alone. We speak directly and secretly to Him and He assured us of His Devine answer.

This is a very unique privilege Allah has granted us Muslims, which we need not relent in getting the best of. I sincerely pray He grants us all the capability to put forth our calls directly to Him Alone.
