The glorious Qur'an is the divine message consisting entirely of Allah's words to His slaves. It calls to develop a strong belief in Allah and serves as a guide towards what man needs to be a strong believer. In ensuring the building of a strong believing personality, the Glorious Qur'an guides the believers to many acts of obedience and characters that could help build such a personality. In the chapter of the believers, we read the following:

Translation;

The believers must (eventually) win through."

Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

Who avoid vain talk;

Who are active in deeds of charity;

Who abstain from sex,

Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,"(Mu'minoon:1-5)

The acts of worship and the qualities mentioned in the foregoing verses describe the ways of building a strong believing personality. Humility while observing the prayers, avoiding vain and useless talks, spending in charity and abstaining from illegal intercourse are all ways one can become a strong believer.

Among the ways of building a strong believing personality is being patient during afflictions and surrendering ones affairs to Allah. The holy Qur'an declares:

"Those who, when afflicted with calamity say: "To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return":-

They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance."(Baqara:156-157)

Among the ways of developing a believing personality is spending the secret hours of the night in reunion with Allah, fervently asking for forgiveness and pardoning of one's iniquities. The Holy Qur'an declares:

"They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night,

And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness ;"{Ad-Daariyaat: 17-18}

To develop a strong believing personality, one must also shun all the prohibitions of Allah such as taking usury, usurping the orphan's wealth, killing unjustly, being arrogant, disobedience towards parents, taking peoples' wealth unjustly, neglecting the five daily prayers or not joining the congregation in the case of men and knowingly engaging in Bid'ah(innovation), just to mention but a few. The glorious Qur'an also guides towards taking all the means that leads to achieving lawful material possession, military power and whatever makes the Muslim to live in grandeur, respect and honor. The Qur'an says:

"It is He Who has made the earth manageable for you, so traverse you through its tracts and enjoy of the Sustenance which He furnishes: but unto Him is the Resurrection."{Al-Mulk:67:15}.

It also declares:

"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom you may not know, but whom Allah doth know…"{Al-Anfaal: 8:60}

To conclude, building a strong believing personality necessitates seeking knowledge of the Deen, learning the Glorious Qur'an, memorizing it and seeking its understanding from the God-fearing scholars and authentic books of Quranic interpretations. One must learn to conduct his daily life according to the Sunnah of the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Attending the circles of Islamic knowledge and reading the stories of the pious predecessors also avails much. Allah knows best.
