Do They Not Ponder the Qur'an? -58

There is a verse in the  first part (Juz') of Surah Al-Baqarah for reflection. In it the uncle was considered among the parents. What is that verse? It is this word of Allâh:

أم كنتم شهداء إذ حضر يعقوب الموت إذ قال لبنيه ما تعبدون من بعدي قالوا نعبد إلهك وإله آبائك إبراهيم وإسماعيل وإسحاق إلها واحدا ونحن له مسلمون

Or were you witnesses when death approached Ya'qûb (Jacob)? When he said unto his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said, "We shall worship your God (Allâh), the God of your fathers, Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ'il (Ishmael), Ishâq (Isaac), One God, and to Him we submit (in Islâm)" (Al-Baqarah: 133)

Ibn Khathir (may Allâh have mercy on him) commented on this verse saying: This is just to give precedence or priority to fathers over uncles because Isma'eel was the uncle of Ya'qub.

Allâh said:

صبغة الله ومن أحسن من الله صبغة ونحن له عابدون

(Our religion is) the pigment of Allâh: and who can baptize better than Allâh? And it is He Whom we worship. (Al-Baqrah: 138)

Here religion was called Swibghah (pigment) metaphorically because its actions and signs appear on a religious one just as pigments appear on a dyed cloth.
