Prayer Time

A religion is nothing but expected to be divine set of codes guiding the ways and actions of man especially on their rout as they search for satisfying that burning thirst inside them to get to their Lord. Aside religious based beliefs and activities, it has been noticed that after all and all, there still remains a vacuum in the people's mind and lives. That is why none can understand why a rich non lacking individuals commit suicides and get depressed or frustrated in life. It is mainly because such persons lack the religious satisfaction their soul needs and internally inevitably yearn for. In fact it is only in a good sincere religious relationship with your Lord that you will attain such a peaceful life full of happiness and delight, even when material things are lacking. Allah says: {Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do minds find rest} [ar-Ra'd: 28]

On this basis, any religion has the obligation to teach and preach good any time anywhere. Thus, morals is one of such practices as upon it lies the bricks of a clean and pure society. A society free of immoralities and moral bloom is always based on its teaching of upholding to morality and shunning immoralities.

Islam and Christianity are not exempted from this fact. It even becomes more emphatic since they claim to be God's Divinely sent down religions. These teachings can be sub grouped into those that are for man himself and those that are between him and others. And as such below are some these teachings found in these two religions:

Between man and his fellow creatures:

{O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you avoid justice; and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquaintanted with what you do.} [an-Nisa': 135] He says elsewhere: {O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah as just witnesses; and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety; and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do} [al-Ma'idah: 8]

In the Bible it was stated: {Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor} [Exodus 20:16]; {Thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift, for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. That which altogether just shalt follow, that thou mayest live and inherit the land which the lord thy God giveth thee} [Deuteronomy 16:19,20]

{And come not near to unlawful sex. Verily, it is a fahishah (i.e. anything that transgresses its limit: a great sin), and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him).} [al-Isra': 32]

In the bible: {ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after he hath committed adultery with her already in his heart} [Mathew 5:27:28]

In the Qur'an: {And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster. And be moderate (or show no insolence) in your walking and lower your voice. Verily, the harshest of all voices is the braying of the asses} [Luqman: 18-19]

{O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the later are better than the former. Nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames…} [al-Hujurat: 11]

In the Bible: {But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, thou fool, shall be in danger of Hell fire} [Mathew 5:22]

Within man Alone:

Although is a character that is also transitive to others, yet I prefer it here considering it being a character known to man himself in the meaning of sincerity.

In the Qur'an: {And eat up not one another's property unjustly (in any illegal way e.g. stealing, robbing, deceiving, etc), nor give bribery to the rulers (judges before presenting your cases) that you may knowingly eat up a part of the property of others sinfully} [al-Baqarah: 188]

{Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). And weigh with the true and straight balance. And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land} [ash-Shu'ara': 181-3]

In the Bible: {"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor} [Exodus 20:17]

Courage and Patience:

{O you who believe! Seek help in patience and as-Salah (the prayer). Truly! Allah is with as-Sabirun (the patient)} [al-Baqarah: 153]

{And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to as-Sabirun (the patient). Who when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.} [al-Baqarah: 155-6]

{Those (i.e. believers) to whom the people (hypocrites) said, "Verily, the people (pagans) have gathered against you (a great army), therefore, fear them." But it (only) increased them in faith, and they said: "Allah (Alone) is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs (for us).} [Al 'Imran: 173]

In the Bible:  {The brother shall betray ... - The brother shall give up in a treacherous manner his brother to be put to death, on account of his attachment to Jesus. Through fear, or from the hope of reward and from the hatred of the gospel, he will overcome all the natural ties of brotherhood. and give up his own kindred to be burnt or crucified. Perhaps nothing could more clearly show the dreadful evil of those times, as well as the natural opposition of the heart to the religion of Christ. [Mark 13:12]

{And brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child, and the children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death and ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they prosecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the son of man become fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, and hid that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach, ye upon the housetops. And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell} [Matthew 10:21- 28]

In the Qur'an: {And match forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the pious. Those who spend (in Allah's Cause) in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves the good doers.} [Al 'Imran: 133-4]

In the Bible: {Peter said unto him, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven} [Matthew 18:22]

Above are very few verses from the Qur'an and Bible to stress the importance of good moral teachings, just as the common features found in all divine religions was portrayed. Be you a Muslim or Christian, it is important you abide by good moral conduct and shun evil. This will guarantee a good and pleasant relationship between you and your Creator as well as your fellow being.
