Some people especially young and new Muslims ask sometimes, out of curiosity  not of questioning,  Why is it that Allah did not create us as Angels? .

Firstly: Allah does whatever He wants, the way He wants. He is the Wise, the Knowing, and no one has the right to question Allah's wisdom or justice, Allah Almighty says:

Interpretation of the meaning: {And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; They have no choice. Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him} (Qur’an 28:68).

Interpretation of the meaning:{He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned} (Qur’an 21:23).

Secondly: Allah has honored the human being, preferred them over much of His creations, and ordered the Angels to prostrate to Adam when he created him, He says in the Qur’an:

Interpretation of the meaning: {And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference} (Qur’an 17:70).

Interpretation of the meaning: {And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused} (Qur’an 20:116).

When Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked "Who is better? The righteous among human beings or the Angles?" he said: "The most correct view is that the righteous among mankind are superior to the angels on the basis of the final outcome because Allah will give them reward the like of which cannot be attained by the angels as far as we know. Rather the angels will be in the abode of the believers – namely Paradise – and will enter upon them from every gate, congratulating them, as mentioned in the Qur'an:

Interpretation of the meaning: {Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home!} (Qur’an 13:24).

From the point of view of their origin, the angels are superior because they were created from light and their innate nature is to worship and obey Allah, and they have been given the strength to do that"

Thirdly: Allah established a different ways of creation to test our faith and sincerity. Allah Almighty created Angels, humans, animals, and plants, and within the creation of human beings themselves, He make them rich and some poor, beautiful and ugly, and white and black. Whoever believes and achieves the purpose of creation, which is worshipping Allah Alone, would earn His satisfaction and Paradise, and whoever disbelieves, would earn Allah's anger and deserve the Hell Fire. Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an:

Interpretation of the meaning: {Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so compete to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ} (5:48).

And Allah knows best.
