The environment can be used as treatment of disease in Islam according to the teaching of the Prophet – peace be upon – if that part of the used environment for treatment or the kind of treatment is not against the teaching of Islam and it should respect the norms and requirement of Islamic Law, an example is the use of trees in treatment. We can notice the prophet's sayings regarding this through the following Traditions:
It was narrated by Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment."
The use of Ajwa dates as medicine for magic
It was narrated by Sa'd that the Prophet said, "If somebody takes some Ajwa dates every morning, he will not be affected by poison or magic on that day till night." (Another narrator said seven dates).
To reduce labor pains (ideal food for pregnant women)
Allah says in Al-Qur'an (interpreting the meaning) about the birth pang of Hazrat Mariam . In that verses, Allah tells the medicine which He prescribed to her during her labor pain:
(Shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards yourself and, it will drop upon you ripe fresh dates. So eat, drink and cool your eyes.) al Qur'an 19: 25 -26
For general healing , the Prophet said: "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire (cauterizing)." But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire."
To cure fever
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Fever is from the heat of the (Hell) Fire; so abate fever with water."
So, it is admissible and even recommended in Islam to heal oneself and treat disease by environment but according to the teaching of Islam and Sharia.
