All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. To proceed;

Many lessons were derived from Dawud's story with Goliath in the Qur'an, among them are the following;

1 . Leadership is based on knowledge and one's capacity to act upon it, not upon money or social status- To willfully accept Allah's decision even when one's mind can't wrap itself around it. And history is testimony that when man submits, Allah helps him in a miraculous ways.

2 . Self-restraint:  The Bani Israel were asked not to drink from the river while they were crossing it. A lot of times, there are worldly desires that line our way as we proceed to do good. But Allah mentions in Surah Rahman that:

" كل من عليها فان "

" Everything upon the earth will perish"

Realizing this helps one practice self-restraint. Victory only comes to a person when Allah will it and when the person practices patience(Sabr).

3 . Allah gives dominion and honor to whom he wills. Just look at the history! Dawood(peace be upon him), a soldier to a king and a prophet, Muhammad(peace be upon him) an orphan to the most influential man on earth. Allah chooses whom He will to carry out His work and it depends on a person characters and deeds.

4 . Consciousness: Allah does not change till they decided to change it themselves, and that can only happen when will stop being traditional Muslims that got Islam inheritance and follow it because our parents do, but become conscious Muslims that focus on knowledge and work on the path of Allah and His prophet.

5 . Tribulation is a tradition of Allah. Victory and success cannot be achieved except after tests which will bring the good forth from the evil. And by this is how small party of believers defeated the large party of disbelievers.

6 . Supplication(Dua) is a great instrument to feet firm and make victorious over the enemies. Allah says:

" ولما برزوا لجالوت وجنوده قالوا ربنا أفرغ علينا صبرا وثبت أقدامنا وانصرنا على القوم الكافرين"

" And when they advanced to meet Jalut (Goliath) and his forces, they invoked: “Our Lord! Pour forth on us patience, set our feet firm and make us victorious over the disbelieving people.” Q2:250.

8 . Humiliation, dignity and victory are from Allah. If one carries the covenant of the message and carries the message, Allah will award him victory and elevate him. Whereas if one disregards the message, Allah will humiliate him through numerous means. The trial will escalate until he goes back to Allah, or if not, severe torture will descend, resulting in a tragic ending.

9 . Allah, the exalted had chosen a modest man of insignificant social standing to teach Bani Israel a lesson. Quality beloved to Allah is unrelated to financial means, or the status of name, family or tribe. This is illustrated by how a very young man, with a modest and unequipped army, with only a sip of water as sustenance, could defeat a vast and heavily equipped army.
